The richest 20% are getting richer

Share of income richest 20% of families in the United States

I found this data on the Census web site. What is interesting about this graph is that it shows the richest 20% of families in the United States has been capturing more of the total income since the mid-70s. Which means of course the bottom 80% is getting less.

Not really.  Income is not a pie where some get more and others get less.  Actually everybody is getting more as more and more wealth is created.

Yeah – as per Boondogle, there is no way that standard of living is less than in 1980. This is very misleading. I love this site, love it – but this is not presented well.
