United States Household Income Map

Based on some comments on the United States Income Inequality Map, I am posting another United States Income Map, this time showing the Median Household income in the US by Census tract. I created it using a very cool tool: Social Explorer.

Addendum:
8/8/2007 Increased the size of the map legend.
8/19/2007 I added Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico to the map.

This is horrible map in that a choropleth map should contain no more than five to seven categories. More than that and it becomes very difficult to distinguish between the categories.

Nice map, puts things in perspective, but what I’d really love to see is this v. cost of living. All these arguments about income inequality are pretty much irrelevant without considering that.
