    Hah! Another small confirmation of Milton Friedman’s permanent income hypothesis that what drives consumption is permanent income, not the ebb and flow of transitory income.

    Stuff like this is why stimulus packages don’t work. The permanent income hypothesis predicts that will save, not spend, windfall checks from the government. http://johnbtaylorsblog.blogspot.com/2009/09/is-stimulus-working.html
